The address for the country's first set of pre-fabricated homes in Poppintree in Ballymun will be Baile na Laochra.
The name, which has been approved by Dublin City Council's North West Area Committee, means Town of the Heroes.
The 22 three-bed, two-storey modular units are due to be ready by late December.
It is understood that contracts for their construction are to be signed soon.
According to the council the site had to be given a name in order to allow the ESB and Bord Gáis to connect their services.
It says the name draws on well-established local place names and also refers to the heroes of 1916.
The council's Heritage Officer considered the name appropriate.
