Colum Eastwood has been elected as the new leader of the SDLP, the third leader of the party to come from Derry.

The 32-year-old was elected this evening at the party's annual conference in Armagh.

He was the first person to challenge a sitting SDLP leader - Alasdair McDonnell had held the leadership since 2011.

A former mayor of Derry City, Mr Eastwood was elected to the Stormont Assembly only four years ago.
