More than 5,000 homes were without power in counties Dublin, Galway, Kerry and Leitrim this evening.
ESB Networks said it is working to restore power to almost 2,000 homes in the Templeogue area of Dublin following a cable fault at a substation there.
Power is expected to be restored to the area by 9pm.
More than 3,000 more homes in Moycullen and Oughterard in Galway were without power this evening due to a fault. Most have had their services restored, with the remainder expected to be resolved by early tomorrow morning.
Smaller faults have also occurred in Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim and Milltown in Co Kerry. They are expected to be resolved by 11pm also.
The ESB has apologised to customers and advised them to go to their ‘Powercheck’ app or website for updates.
