Former Minister for Justice Alan Shatter has been selected to contest the constituency of Dublin Rathdown along with Josepha Madigan.
It had been thought that Mr Shatter might struggle to be selected after Fine Gael headquarters issued an instruction that only one man and one woman be returned to the ticket.
The other contenders were Cllr Neale Richmond and Patrick Kennedy.
