Heavy rainfall overnight led to spot flooding in areas of counties Clare, Galway, Limerick and Mayo.

In Co Clare, the emergency services dealt with flooding of up to 20 houses in Miltown Malbay.

Fire crews also helped to free two people who were trapped in their car in Liscannor.

Several floods were reported between Lahinch and Doolin and in Co Galway, including Inverin, Rossaveal and Carraroe.

In Mayo, there is flooding on the Newport/ Glenhest Rd (R317) about 2km from Newport and the AA have warned it should be avoided.

Met Éireann has removed the mid-level Orange Alert that it issued yesterday ahead of the forecast of downpours.

Heavy outbreaks of rain are expected to return tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, in Kerry there was flooding on the Castlemaine Rd into Tralee.

Ballyvourney in Co Cork was also hit by spots floods yesterday evening with roads around the town affected by the deluge.
