A 48-year-old man has died in a road crash close to Castlebellingham in Co Louth last night.
The three car collision occurred at 10.30pm.
Preliminary indications are that the man may have been travelling southbound on the northbound carriageway.
A woman in the second car was taken to hospital with multiple fractures.
A mother and her 11-year-old daughter, who were in the third vehicle, are said to be shocked but otherwise unharmed.
Gardaí have asked that anyone who was on the northbound carriageway last night and witnessed the incident, to contact them at Ardee Garda Station.
