An investigation is under way into the death of a road-racing doctor following a practice session crash in north county Dublin.
Doctor John Hinds was involved in an accident yesterday, while providing medical cover at a Skerries 100 practice session, the Motorcycle Union of Ireland said.
He was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he died.
Dr Hinds was a consultant at Craigavon Hospital in County Armagh.
The Ulster branch of the Medical Team of the Motorcycle Union of Ireland has paid tribute to Dr Hinds.
In a statement it said: “As a team and as friends we are naturally devastated, but our thoughts are first for Janet and the rest of John's family who were able to be with him at this time.
“We feel also for our colleagues on the Southern Medical Team and in Beaumont who we know worked brilliantly and did everything they could to help him.”
