Two companies have announced the opening of separate facilities in Roscommon and Dublin, which will lead to the creation of 80 new jobs.
A medical devices company has promised 50 jobs for Roscommon town with the establishment of a manufacturing operation there.
Moss Vision is to manufacture intraocular lenses for ophthalmic industry and Hyaluronic Acid-based viscoelastic to manufacture dermal fillers at the the new facility in the IDA Business Park in the town.
The project is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Products manufactured in Roscommon will be for distribution in Europe and worldwide.
The facility will act as a sales and marketing centre for Europe and beyond as well as a distribution point.
Moss Vision's Chairman and Managing Director Mehul Asnani said: "This investment allows us to meet the demands of our growing business and take advantage of the high quality of talent available."
He said the company's initial start up experience has been so positive that the company is exploring additional opportunities to base in Ireland in the medium-term.
Meanwhile Augmented reality company Daqri is opening its European headquarters on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin, and plans to hire 30 people to staff the office.
Augmented reality allows information and 3D objects to be added to what people see in front of them, often using a screen or glasses.
This has been used to a limited degree in gaming, while Daqri is focusing its business on industrial applications.
Its Dublin offices are being supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
