RTÉ Radio 1's Liveline experienced technical issues today, which led to the programme being taken off air 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

The technical issue meant that the programme, hosted by Joe Duffy, could not take any phone calls on-air.

Mr Duffy started the programme by explaining to listeners that "the system has been causing trouble all morning, I think we’re going to have to go to a disc or whatever..."

"There’s about 50 people trying to fix them as we speak", he added.

A spokesperson for RTÉ Radio confirmed that the programme had experienced technical issues but the issues had since been resolved.

Technical issues were experienced by other programmes on RTÉ Radio 1 earlier today.
