Scottish police in open letter of thanks for support during Karen Buckley investigation

The police officer in charge of the investigation into the murder of Cork student Karen Buckley has thanked people in Ireland for their support.

Ms Buckley, 24, was found murdered after she went missing on a night out in Glasgow last month.

The Glasgow Caledonian University student was training to become an occupational therapist. 

Detective Superintendent Jim Kerr said that throughout the investigation, Police Scotland had received messages of appreciation from people in Ireland.

In an open letter, he said: "Throughout our investigation into the death of Karen Buckley in Glasgow in April 2015 we received and continue to receive messages of appreciation from people in Ireland.

"I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone for taking the time to contact us and for their thanks and continued support.

"It is very much appreciated by myself and the dedicated team of officers who are involved in the investigation.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with Ms Buckley's murder.
