The Children's University Hospital Temple Street has today marked over 100 kidney transplants.
Consultant paediatric nephrologist Dr Atif Awan said the programme has seen a 100% survival rate.
He said the service, which started in 2003, has one of the best survival rates in the world and long-term outcomes are excellent.
The first transplant recipient, Courtney Kealy from Slane in Co Meath, is 17 and will sit her Leaving Certificate exams this year.
She told RTÉ News she would like to study nursing.
The youngest recipient of a new kidney is just two years old.
Last year was the busiest year for transplants, with 19 children receiving a transplant from living or deceased donors.
The number of transplants is increasing due to more people carrying organ donor cards.
