The banking inquiry formally agreed this evening to engage with former ECB president Jean Claude Trichet at an event organised by the Irish Institute for International and European Affairs next week.
This evening the committee agreed a framework for questioning Mr Trichet.
He will be questioned directly by members of the inquiry for 90 minutes on the afternoon of Thursday 30 April.
It will be broken down into two 45-minute sessions.
Mr Trichet is expected to be questioned on the role of the ECB during the banking crisis and leading up to the Bank Guarantee.
He will also be questioned in relation to ECB correspondence and contact with the government.
