Police are investigating a fire in a shed in Co Fermanagh over the weekend, in which 13 dogs were killed.

It is believed the incident is linked to a suspicious object which was found in the Clabby Road area on Friday.

Seven dogs and six pups died in the blaze.

It is understood the fire was in a shed on land owned by relatives of a family named in a BBC Scotland documentary earlier this week into dog breeding.

Police said investigations were ongoing to establish if the fire was started deliberately.

PSNI chief inspector Graham Dodds said: "This incident is currently being linked to a suspicious object being found in the Clabby Road area on Friday which turned out to be nothing untoward.

"To ensure the protection of the public there will be increased police patrols in the area."

Anybody with information has been asked to contact police.
