Former Fianna Fáil minister Mary O'Rourke has said she has information that is not in the public domain that may be useful to the banking inquiry.
Ms O'Rourke confirmed that she and her nephew, Conor Lenihan, have written to the inquiry requesting to have an input into its proceedings.
She said this information was in relation to her late nephew, former minister for finance Brian Lenihan
Ms O'Rourke said the inquiry was currently like "Hamlet" without the prince and that is why they were seeking to take part.
However, she said that they were not seeking to respond in particular to evidence that will be given by former Taoiseach Brian Cowen.
She was speaking in Arbour Hill at the annual Fianna Fáil 1916 Commemoration.
