A body has been recovered in the search for a missing oyster fisherman off the coast of Co Clare.

Valentia Coastguard said the man's body was located at 10.40am, around 200m west of where the fisherman was reported missing.

Emergency services were alerted to an incident at Poulnasherry Bay at around 3.25am this morning when four people working on oyster beds got into difficulty.

Valentia Coastguard said they were using tractors and trailers and got cut off from shore when the tide came in.

A local boat rescued three of the people in the early hours of this morning.

Kilkee, Doolan and Ballybunion coastguard units along with the Shannon rescue helicopter and the Kilrush lifeboat were involved in the search.
