Communications company Ericsson has said that 71 jobs are to be cut at its Dublin office in Clonskeagh.

Staff were told the news this morning.

The company employs 1,500 in Ireland.

A spokesperson said there will be a voluntary redundancy programme to achieve the job cuts.

She said the cuts form part of the company's ongoing global strategic transformation and follows the creation of 120 additional jobs at its Athlone site last May.
