An Irish-born US marine has been killed in an army helicopter crash off the coast of Florida.
Staff Sergeant Liam Flynn, 34, was originally from Clane in Co Kildare.
He moved to the US 12 years ago and joined the marines where he completed tours of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Eleven servicemen were on board the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter for a training exercise when it crashed in waters off the Florida Panhandle on Tuesday night. All were killed.
There was heavy fog in the area at the time of the accident but it was unclear if that played a role in the crash.
Sgt Flynn was married with one daughter.
Clane Parish Priest Fr Paul O'Boyle said Sgt Flynn was very committed and talented.
Fr Boyle said Sgt Flynn's family were coming to terms with a deep loss and a memorial mass will be held on Sunday at 11.30am.
Seven Marines and four Louisiana Army National Guard were killed in the crash which is under investigation.
The Air Force is trying to determine why the aircraft went down in thick fog during a training mission.
The bodies of all but two servicemen have been recovered.
