It has been announced the 2016 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will be staged in Ennis, Co Clare.

Ennis secured the event ahead of two other towns, with Sligo and Drogheda both in contention.

The All-Ireland Fleadh comprises a ten-day cultural festival attracting over 300,000 people, including thousands of overseas visitors.

It generates €40m for the local region and will have 10,000 national and international performers

The event is supported by 420 branches and 50,000 volunteers worldwide.
