This is the miraculous moment a driver survived after being crushed between two big metal trailers in a pile-up on an icy motorway in the United States.

Black ice is believed to be the cause of the pile-up involving more than a dozen lorries that left 12 people injured in eastern Oregon.

Lorry driver Kaleb Whitby, 27, miraculously escaped with minor injuries after he was sandwiched in his vehicle for about 30 minutes.

The photograph was taken by another truck driver who was also involved in the pile-up.

Mr Whitby explained what happened before the crash: "When I realised what had happened, I looked out my back passenger window and I could see lights coming at me and so it was that time that all I could do was pray and close my eyes and hold on tight to the steering wheel."
