A new charity founded by Majella O'Donnell has been launched in Donegal which will offer free courses to people on stress control.

Speaking at the launch of Donegal Mind Wellness in Letterkenny today, Majella said she hoped the charity will help people to cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life, which can lead to anxiety, panic attacks and depression.

Referring to her own struggles with depression, she said that she had learned a lot during her difficult times and wants to help others on their journey.

Majella is providing the funding for the service which is being supported by the HSE.

Trained volunteers will deliver courses in towns and villages throughout the county, and Majella hopes they will reach people who are living in remote areas of Donegal and people who feel isolated.

You do not have to have a problem to go to the courses, she said, the idea is to help people cope with stress before it becomes a problem.
