A new campaign aimed at increasing the number of organ donors in Northern Ireland has been announced in Belfast.
The campaign is backed by RTÉ GAA pundit and former All-Ireland winner Joe Brolly, who donated one of his kidneys to his friend Shane Finnegan for a transplant operation.
At present, 40% to 50% of families do not agree to organ donation after the death of a loved one.
The refusal rate is 5% to 15% in other parts of Europe.
Thursday 11 December has been designated as Organ Donation Discussion Day.
Families are encouraged to sit down with their loved ones and discuss their wishes on organ donation.
The campaign is backed by the Northern Ireland Executive and has all-party support at Stormont.
