Sinn Féin is to meet tomorrow morning to discuss the suspension of Mary Lou McDonald from the Dáil chamber last Thursday.

It is understood members will discuss what action they will take in light of the development.

Ms McDonald is suspended from the chamber until Wednesday.

One Sinn Féin source said he thought she would not attempt to enter the chamber tomorrow, as it would place the ushers in a difficult position.

Ms McDonald refused to leave the chamber last week despite a vote suspending her.

During Leaders' Questions, Ms McDonald persisted in asking Tánaiste Joan Burton about water charges after the Ceann Comhairle asked her to resume her seat or leave the house.

The Ceann Comhairle then named Ms McDonald as being out of order and the house voted to suspend the Dublin Central TD.

However, she refused to leave the chamber despite being asked to by the Captain of the Guard in Leinster House.

Ms McDonald sat in her usual seat in the chamber and was joined by six of her party colleagues, including party leader Gerry Adams.

Ms McDonald later defended her decision to stage a sit-in in the Dáil.
