Repairs to a burst water main in the Ashwood Estate, Ashwood Way, Clondalkin in Dublin were completed today and service is being restored to the area.

During the repair, the burst location was isolated such that there was minimal effect on customers' supply.

The water main burst location is on public open ground on the west side of the Fonthill Road, immediately South of the Grand Canal.

There was no work done at this location by Irish Water or any other party within recent months.

This water main is 40 years old and the burst was likely due to normal operational fatigue, progressive aging and gradual deterioration of the pipe.

There is no record of any previous bursts on this pipeline in this vicinity in recent years.
