DNA results carried out on human remains found at a bog in Oristown, Co Meath, have positively identified the body as that of Brendan Megraw, one of the Disappeared.
The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims Remains confirmed the results this evening.
Dublin City Coroner Dr Brian Farrell accepted this as evidence of identification and will shortly authorise the release of the remains to the family.
The family have indicated that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Mr Megraw, from Twinbrook, Belfast was looking forward to the birth of his first child and was due to start a new job on a ship when he went missing in April 1978 aged 23.
He was one of 17 people abducted, killed and secretly buried by republicans during The Troubles.
It brings to 11 the remains of the Disappeared that have been recovered so far.
