At least 55 people were killed in a suicide bombing at a border crossing between India and Pakistan, police said.
Hundreds of people visit the Wahga border crossing near the Pakistani city of Lahore to witness the flags of both countries being lowered just before sunset.
At least 120 people were wounded in the blast.
A police spokesman said: "People were returning after watching the parade at Wagah border when the blast took place. Ball bearings were found at the scene."
The Indian side border crossing was not affected by the bombing, border security authorities said.
The inspector general of India's Border Security Force, said the blast took place 500m from the Wagah border at about 6.15pm local time.
"Our side is safe, we are alert, have increased our security, we are in constant touch with district officials and state police," he said.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack.
"Terror attack in Pakistan near Wagah Border is shocking. I strongly condemn such a dastardly act of terrorism," Mr Modi said on his Twitter account.
