Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for parts of the west and south.

It warns that rainfall amounts of 25-40mm are likely in counties Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

The forecast for eastern areas is drier initially, but persistent rain is expected to spread later this afternoon and evening.

It is expected to be mild, with temperatures of up to 18C forecast.
