The HSE said that they will now disperse the list of medical card holders to other doctors in the North Clare area.
The community council in Feakle said that the lack of GP service will be devastating for the local community.
President of the National Association of General Practitioners, Conor McGee, said that allowances paid to practises in rural areas have been cut by up to 40%.
He claimed that further practises could be facing closure in rural areas as up to 8% of practises are operating at a loss.
He said that GPs have seen their income reduced by up to 40% in the last four years as a result of measures introduced by Government under the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest.
The association is calling on the Government to reverse the cuts.
