The death of a person found in a burned out car near Newport in Mayo is not being treated as suspicious.
The remains were found following a single-vehicle crash at Cartoon yesterday morning.
Emergency services arrived at the scene to find the car engulfed in flames.
Gardaí now believe the badly burned body found in the Saab car is that of a man. He has not yet been identified.
A number of witnesses have been interviewed and gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling around Cartoon on the Castlebar to Newport Road between 1.15am and 1.30am yesterday to contact them.
