A man in his early 80s died in a single-vehicle road crash in Co Offaly this morning.
The man's car crashed while travelling along the Birr to Banagher road at an area known locally as Taylor's Cross.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.30am.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore.
The road was closed while gardaí conducted a technical examination of the scene.
