Seven new Steinway pianos have arrived at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.

The conservatory said the instruments will help it "take the next step towards becoming the first all-Steinway School in Ireland".

They have been transported to Dublin from Steinway & Sons in Hamburg.

There are more than 160 All-Steinway Schools in the world.

The institutions are committed to having their students practise and perform on Steinway pianos.

The acquisition of the new instruments has been made possible by what has been described as "a very generous philanthropic donation".

The pianos were set up in a circular formation and tuned this morning before their first performance this afternoon.
