A company that supplies equipment for food waste recycling is to create 45 jobs.

CaterWaste said the jobs will be in sales, services, and collection and processing of waste throughout the country.

The announcement comes as the company begins using a new range of dry waste food bio-mass machines that shorten the time it takes to transform food waste into material for composting.

Meanwhile, the first Irish whiskey distillery to be built on a greenfield site here in over a hundred years has opened in Co Offaly with the promise of  an employment boost in the sector in the next ten years.

William Grant and sons have spent €35m on the new Tullamore Dew distillery.

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney said today he expects another ten distilleries to open in the next ten years.
