A 42-year-old man has died following a road crash in Co Carlow. 

The two car collision happened at Ballybannon on the old Bagnelstown to Carlow road at about 5pm yesterday. 

Four men and three women were also injured in the crash.

Two of the men, aged 33 and 36, were airlifted to Waterford University Hospital, while the rest of the injured were taken to St Luke's Hospital kilkenny.

Three of the seven are described as being in a serious condition. 

Elsewhere, gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a crash in Dublin yesterday afternoon, in which an baby boy was seriously injured. 

The incident occurred when two vehicles collided at the junction of Hamptonwood Green and Hamptonwood Avenue in Finglas, at around 3.30pm.
