The former chief executive of Aviva Ireland, Seán Egan, has been elected as the new chairman of the Rehab Group at a Board meeting today.

Mr Egan’s election follows the resignation of sitting Chairman, Brian Kerr.

Mr Egan assumes the role of Executive Chairman pending the appointment of a new CEO, with that post due to be advertised in a few days.

Further appointments to the board are expected over the coming weeks, through a new nominations process.

Following his appointment, Mr Egan said he was delighted to have been elected to his new role.

“I have personal experience of rehabilitation services and I know the difference that the support of committed professionals can have in enhancing the lives of people who rely on the types of services Rehab provides,” Mr Egan said.

In a letter to Rehab Group staff, Mr Egan asked that they place their trust in him and said that he would work with the new incoming CEO and everybody in Rehab to ensure the organisation overcomes the recent turbulent period.
