The Socialist Party has urged voters to treat next month's Local, European and likely by-elections as a referendum on the water tax.
The party has changed its name to Stop The Water Tax - Socialist Party.
MEP Paul Murphy called on people to wipe out the Labour Party.
He said he believes people can successfully oppose water charges because the Revenue will not be collecting them.
Speaking at his party's campaign launch, he said the Government continues to make ordinary people pay for the economic crisis despite talk of recovery.
The party's Dublin West By-Election candidate Ruth Coppinger said her election would put major pressure on Government to invest in housing and to curb rents.
Cllr Coppinger said the party would also oppose the Government's universal health insurance plan.
