Threatened industrial action at aviation maintenance firm Shannon Aerospace has been deferred to allow talks to take place at the Labour Relations Commission next week.

SIPTU members at the company which employs 500 people in Shannon, had voted overwhelmingly to take industrial action from 4 March.

The dispute relates to the company's decision to shut down the defined benefit pension scheme despite the fact that it is in surplus.

Staff had been planning to hold a four-hour stoppage on 4 March, as well as a ban on overtime.
