Minister for Health James Reilly has said he is not satisfied with waiting until 17 February for details of the pay of the CEO of the Rehab Group to be made public.

The group has called a special board meeting for next month to discuss whether to disclose the salary of Chief Executive Angela Kerins.

It has commissioned a number of reports to look at the pay of senior staff before that meeting.

Mr Reilly said the more forthright and transparent the group is the better for it and everyone else, and for other charities in Ireland.

The minister said he regretted that some charities had seen a drop-off in funding.

He said that when the process is finished, the public will see absolute transparency and a 100% guarantee that the money they give to charity goes to where is intended.

Mr Reilly said that the Health Service Executive had gone through Section 38 agencies and was now looking at Section 39 agencies.
