The Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications has invited community groups with concerns about proposed EirGrid projects to a meeting in Leinster House next week.
Committee Chair John O'Mahony said members wanted to hear the questions, fears and frustrations that were felt in many parts of the country before they spoke to representatives from EirGrid in the coming weeks.
It is expected that campaigners from several parts of the country will attend the meeting next Wednesday.
Incoming EirGrid Chairman John O'Connor will be invited to attend the same Oireachtas committee before his appointment is formalised.
No date has been set for his appearance.
Committee members cannot block the appointment.
Earlier, more than 200 people protested at the EirGrid offices in New Ross.
The protesters do not want the company to proceed with proposed new pylons across Wexford and the southeast.
