At least 44 people have been killed and over 100 injured in clashes in Egypt.

Fighting broke out after supporters and opponents of deposed Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi clashed at a protest.

Most of the dead had gunshot wounds.

State news agency MENA put the number of injured at 246.
