A US business service provider has said hundreds of jobs are being created in Northern Ireland with the establishment of a Belfast base.

Stream Global Services announced details of 993 posts at the Harbour Estate in east Belfast.

Almost half of the jobs are already in place.

The development is expected to generate £14m in additional salaries in the local economy.

The company said that when fully operational it expects to employ more than 1,700 people in its new Belfast base.

Stream, which is based in Minnesota, operates 55 call centres worldwide, providing sales, technical support and customer care services.
