Minister of State at the Department of Finance Brian Hayes has said he would like to see members of the Reform Alliance being able to stand again for election for Fine Gael.
Speaking on RTÉ's This Week, Mr Hayes said a fractured Fine Gael was of no use to anyone.
The Reform Alliance is a group of TDs and Senators expelled from the Fine Gael parliamentary party.
Mr Hayes said that at some point in the future, Fine Gael has to make sure that the expelled TDs and Senators can return.
He said that in the past, Taoiseach Enda Kenny has shown great generosity in bringing people who had opposed his leadership into Government.
The Reform Alliance met in Dublin yesterday in advance of the new Dáil and Seanad terms.
Former minister of state Lucinda Creighton insisted the group had no plans to form a political party.
Ms Creighton said that she was seeking to secure speaking rights in the Dáil.
She said members would be discussing welfare reform, job creation, and the challenges facing the small and medium enterprise sector.
She added that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss new policy ideas and matters of concern to the Irish people.
