US technology company Qualcomm is creating 100 high-end jobs at its base in Mahon, Co Cork.
The company is beginning the recruitment process immediately and is looking for engineers in particular.
Qualcomm, which is based in San Diego, is a world leader in 3G, 4G and next generation wireless technologies.
The company has a 50% share in the smartphone chip market and employs 26,600 people worldwide.
The news jobs are being supported by the IDA.
Qualcomm set up in Cork last April and has operated in Dublin for the past five years.
Meanwhile, Carphone Warehouse and Harvey Norman are to create 80 jobs as part of the roll-out of a retail partnership between the two companies.
The deal will see Carphone Warehouse outlets opening in all of Harvey Norman's 12 branches nationwide, with two opening this week and the remainder being set-up by November.
The roll-out follows a trial of the "store-in-store" partnership in Harvey Norman's branch in Swords, Dublin.
Recruitment for managers and sales staff is under way.
Elsewhere, more than 3,000 people attended a jobs fair in Cork today.
While there were several Irish-based jobs on offer, the biggest attraction at the fair was the stand giving information on emigration to Canada.
