Gardaí earlier sealed off an area outside a community centre in Buncrana, Co Donegal where a suspect device was found.
The suspicious device was discovered on a wall beside the main entrance to the centre shortly before 10am.
The centre is home to Coláiste Chineál Eoghain secondary school, a hostel and a number of community groups and social enterprises.
Students were collecting their Leaving Certificate results when the suspicious device was spotted.
Gardaí alerted the Army Bomb Disposal Unit.
