Units from the Dublin Fire Brigade have been fighting a gorse fire which broke out yesterday on Howth Hill.
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze and say that it could have been started maliciously.
The alarm was raised at 3.30pm yesterday by a pilot en route to Dublin Airport who reported significant smoke and flames.
The blaze affects 40 acres on Howth Hill. Part of the nearby golf club was closed to facilitate emergency services.
John Keogh from Dublin Fire Brigade said: "We are happy enough it is not threatening any dwellings or the hotel nearby. If it was all our resources would be dispatched to that area."
