A draft bill that aims to provide better protection for migrant workers in Ireland is expected to be published imminently.

Minister for Jobs Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said he expected the draft legislation would be available before the end of this Dáil session or early in the next session.

He was responding to a question from Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary who highlighted the decision by the High Court last year.

The High Court overturned a decision by the Labour Court to award restaurant worker Mohammad Younis €92,000.

Mr Calleary said 24,000 people are exposed to this problem because of a legal loophole.
