Cork City Fire Service and council maintenance crews have been closely monitoring bonfire night celebrations in the county.

23 June is the traditional night in the city for burning bonfires and is usually a busy night for the emergency services locally.

For the 6th year in a row, controlled bonfires were organised by the council at five of the main public parks - in Knocknaheeny, Farranree, Mayfield, Mahon and Togher.

The local authority also appealed to the public to report any incidences of bonfires or gathered material for bonfires which may pose a risk to health or property.
