The two largest unions at Bus Éireann have voted to accept a restructuring plan brokered at the Labour Relations Commission.

77% of the 900 members belonging to the National Bus and Rail Union voted Yes, while 69% of SIPTU's 600 members backed the deal.

Bus Éireann welcomed the result of the ballot saying it would bring stability to the company and protect jobs.

Earlier this month, workers staged a two-day strike in protest at proposed cuts, which management had threatened to impose unilaterally.

However, following an intervention by the LRC, an alternative package of proposals was agreed.
