Cork City Council is due to survey 43,000 domestic water connections for the roll-out of domestic water metering.
The surveys are due to begin in the Bishopstown area of the city from next week.
A Cork City Council spokesman stressed they will not need to enter private property and there will be no interruption to the water supply.
All members of the survey team will carry identification.
