Teachers at the ASTI annual convention in Wexford have unanimously passed a second urgent motion on the Croke Park II proposals after a closed session debate.

The resolution calls for an urgent meeting of the union's elected leadership if the Government breaches the terms of Croke Park I, or seeks to impose salary cuts or changed working conditions unilaterally.

It says that the urgent meeting should consider an appropriate response, including a ballot of members on industrial action.

The resolution also calls on the union to work with other teacher and non-teacher unions, should ASTI members reject the Croke Park II proposals in the ballot that is currently under way.
