The Labour Relations Commission has proposed a schedule of intensive negotiations on the Croke Park Agreement aimed at formulating a new public service deal within the next few days.
Six strands of plenary meetings are under way that will deal with additional working hours, pay reductions for the higher paid, overtime, premium payments, increments and other miscellaneous issues including redeployment and flex-time.
The talks will continue throughout the weekend with some sources anticipating that there could be a push to finalise an agreement by Monday.
However, other sources said that that could be optimistic and noted that the Government deadline for an agreement is Thursday 28 February.
The Government has warned union that if a deal is not reached by agreement, they will legislate to secure the €1 billion in payroll savings which they need over the next three years.
