British historian and journalist Robert Kee has died at the age of 93.

Mr Kee was best known for his histories of Ireland, which were broadcast on RTÉ and BBC and published in book form.

He served in the RAF during World War II before becoming a journalist.

Mr Kee was a correspondent for the Sunday Times and the Observer.

He moved into television in the 1950s and worked for the BBC, ITV and later Channel 4.
